2007 NBA Mock Draft

1. Trailblazers Greg Oden. C. 7'0". 260.
Portland chooses the franchise big man over the high-scoring wing player. As they should.

2. Supersonics Kevin Durrant. SF. 6'10". 225.
Seattle "settles" for the best player in the draft.

3. Hawks Al Horford. PF. 6'10". 245.
The Hawks are supposedly narrowing their choices down to Al Horford or Brandan Wright. Horford wins out for being the less risky and the more ready of the two.

4. Grizzlies Joakim Noah. C. 7'0". 223.
The Grizzlies really wants Al Horford, but will have to decide between Joakim Noah or Mike Conley. I'm going with Noah here because center triumphs point guard.

5. Celtics Yi Jianlian. PF/C. 7'1". 240.
There's a good chance the Celts trade this pick. But if they have to choose, it'll be the best big man available - that means either Brandan Wright or Yi Jianlian. I go with Yi because he's taller and more marketable. As much as the Celts like Jeff Green, they are not likely to reach this high for him.

6. Bucks Mike Conley. PG. 6'1". 175.
The Bucks are rumored to be targeting Horford, Brandan Wright, Green or Conley. With Horford gone, they supposedly rate Conley slightly over Wright and Green.

7. Timberwolves Jeff Green. SF/PF. 6'10". 235.
Green has refused to workout for the Bobcats and there is a rumor that he got a promise from a team picking in the top 7.

8. Bobcats Brandan Wright. PF. 6'10". 200.
The Bobcats will gladly snap up any big man (Noah, Yi, or Wright) who drops this far. They are also reportedly high on Brewer.

9. Bulls Spencer Hawes. C. 7'0". 244.
The Bulls are supposedly high on Hawes and Noah. They may look to trade this pick or draft the best available if all the worthy bigs are off the board.

10. Kings Al Thornton. SF. 6'7". 220.
The Kings want to draft a big man. But if all the worthy bigs are gone, then Geoff Petrie supposedly considers Thornton the best available player.

11. Hawks Julian Wright. SF/PF. 6'8". 210.
It's no secret that the Hawks want a PG out of this draft. If Mikey Conley, for reasons unthinkable, slides this far they'll gladly take him. But the Hawks has never drafted for need before, will they start this year? They may trade this pick for a veteran PG.

12. 76ers Corey Brewer. SG/SF. 6'8". 185.
Hey, if Brewer slides this far, you have to pick him. That's all there is to it. They are also reportedly very high on Al Thornton.

13. Hornets Thaddeus Young. SG/SF. 6'8". 210.
The Hornets are looking for a wing player. It's a tough choice between Thaddeus Young, Nick Young, and Julian Wright. Thaddeus has the most upside and best combination of size, skill, and athleticism; even if he is the rawist of the three.

14. Clippers Javaris Crittenton. PG. 6'5". 194.
The Clippers are one of the hardest to predict, mainly because they don't have any glaring weakness.

15. Pistons Rodney Stuckey. PG/SG. 6'5". 207.
We don't believe that Rodney Stuckey received a promise from the Piston, but we do believe they are high on him. It may be a close call between Stuckey and Nick Young. In the end, Stuckey ability to play both guard spots may give him the edge.

16. Wizards Nick Young. SG/SF 6'7". 206.
Many people think the Wiz will draft a big man. Eh why? They're bringing in last year's draft pick Oleksiy Pecherov and they're planning to re-sign Andray Blatche. In other words, the Wiz are pretty stack with young big men. They're reportedly high on Young and will likely use this pick to draft the best player available, not necessary a big man.

17. Nets Sean Williams. C. 6'10". 230.
The Nets are looking for a big man and most likely will decide between Sean Williams, Josh McRoberts, Jason Smith, or Glen Davis.

18. Warriors Josh McRoberts. PF. 6'10". 240.
The Warriors are also looking for a big man and most likely will take the best available tall guy left. Oh, they are also deeply in love with Yi Jianlian, but if Mullin can engineer a trade that lands him Yi he would have been a better GM than he has been.

19. Lakers Daequan Cook. SG. 6'6". 203.
The Lakers are high on Cook; but that was before Kobe's latest tirade. Cook is a good long-term player but will the Lakers opt for a more ready prospect?

20. Heat Acie Law. PG. 6'4". 186.
Don't expect the Heat to draft a long term prospect. The Heat wants a player who is ready now! They also need help in both guard spots. Law can play both guard spots and he's ready. Bingo!

21. 76ers Tiago Splitter. PF/C. 6'10". 245.
With three picks in the first round, the Sixers can get creative with their two late picks. This pick may be traded or draft a Euro to leave overseas for a year or two.

22. Bobcats Nick Fazekas. PF. 6'10". 240.
If the Bobcats do not draft a big man with their #8 pick, they'll probably pick a big man here. If they do draft a big man at #8, they'll probably draft a wing here.

23. Knicks Morris Almond. SG. 6'6". 217.
The Knicks want a good shooter to compliment Eddy Curry. Since they do not want to add to their gigantic cap, they're one of the few teams that figure to draft for need with a late 1st round pick.

24. Suns Marco Belinelli. SG. 6'5". 192.
The Suns really want a big man, but will take the best player available. The offensive-minded Belinelli and the run n' gun system seem like a very good fit.

25. Jazz Glen Davis. PF. 6'8". 280.
The Jazz will be picking the best player available.

26. Rockets Jason Smith. PF/C. 7'0". 235.
The Rockets are looking for frontcourt help and will most likely take the best forward/center available.

27. Piston Derrick Byars. SF. 6'7". 215.
Byars is likely the best player available at this point.

28. Spurs Gabe Pruitt. PG. 6'4". 170.
The Spurs is picking the best player available.

29. Suns Jared Dudley. SF. 6'7". 220.
Dudley is the best player available at this point.

30. 76ers Rudy Fernandez. SG. 6'6". 172.
With three picks in the first round, the Sixers may trade this pick, draft a Euro to stack overseas, or take a chance on a good player with some questionable attribute.
